How to Import a Minecraft Schematic With WorldEdit

WorldEdit is the fastest way to place a MinePilot .schem file in a Java Edition world. Use this guide when you want to paste a build first, then adjust terrain, lighting, and details afterward.

Before you paste: make a backup or test in a creative copy of your world. Large schematics can overwrite blocks quickly, and the best placement is usually one or two tests away from perfect.

1. Install WorldEdit for your setup

For single-player, use a Fabric or Forge WorldEdit mod that matches your Minecraft version. For servers, install the WorldEdit plugin on Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, or a compatible server. MinePilot build artifacts currently target Minecraft Java Edition.

2. Download the MinePilot schematic

Open a build page, inspect the preview, dimensions, and material list, then download the protected .schem file. Keep the page open so you can check the footprint and layer guide before choosing a paste location.

3. Put the file in the WorldEdit schematics folder

Common locations include:

  • .minecraft/config/worldedit/schematics/ for many modded single-player installs.
  • plugins/WorldEdit/schematics/ for many server installs.
  • config/worldedit/schematics/ inside some launcher-specific instances.

If the folder does not exist yet, run WorldEdit once or create the schematicsfolder inside the WorldEdit config directory.

4. Load and paste the schematic

  1. Stand near the location where the build should appear.
  2. Run //schem load filename. You usually do not need to include .schem.
  3. Run //paste to place the build.
  4. If the position is wrong, run //undo, move, and paste again.

5. Check orientation and terrain

After pasting, compare the entrances, foundation, and roofline with the MinePilot preview. If the build is rotated or buried, undo and try again from a better standing position. Flattening only the footprint is usually better than flattening the whole surrounding area.

Quick troubleshooting

  • If WorldEdit cannot find the file, check the exact schematics folder for that profile or server.
  • If the paste is too high or low, undo, move your feet to the desired anchor, and paste again.
  • If blocks are missing, make sure your Minecraft version supports the blocks used by the build.
  • If the build is too large, inspect the dimensions and consider a smaller collection page first.
